A-League: Kruse parts ways with Victory

Robbie Kruse’s second spell with A-League club Melbourne Victory has come to an end.

Former Socceroos attacker Robbie Kruse has parted ways with Melbourne Victory.

Kruse, 33, made just 10 A-League appearances in the recently completed season, with his campaign ruined by a serious knee injury.

Following his initial stint with the Victory from 2009 to 2011, Kruse rejoined the club in 2019 following an eight-year spell overseas.

“Robbie has been one of the Australia’s most successful footballers on the international stage over the past decade and we’ll always be proud of his association with Melbourne Victory,” Victory director of football John Didulica said.

“His first stint at the club showed the potential for exciting young footballers to springboard their careers into the best clubs in Europe and into the Australian national team, whilst this season in particular, he played an important role in guiding our young players to the Australia (FFA) Cup triumph.”

Across his two stints at the Victory, Kruse scored 20 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved at Melbourne Victory during my time at the club and wish the club all the success in the future,” Queenslander Kruse said.
