Man charged after allegedly stealing from eight Melbourne weddings

An alleged serial thief has been charged amid allegations he crashed eight weddings and stole gifts and cash in Melbourne.

A serial wedding crasher has been charged by police after allegedly stealing from eight wedding receptions across Melbourne.

The 24-year-old is accused of pretending to be a guest at weddings in Brunswick, Fitzroy, Brunswick East, Ripponlea and Hawthorn in April and May this year.

The man allegedly stole $16,000 in cash, jewellery and gift cards from three of the venues.

Police executed a search warrant at a Carlton address on Tuesday where jewellery and gift cards were found.

The Carlton man was arrested and charged with 27 offences, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft and going equipped to steal.

He has been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 18.
